How to Keep Lettuce Fresh

How to Keep Lettuce Fresh - Coach Erica Kelly

Still buying that super expensive tub of "fancy" lettuce? Put some extra bills in your pocket by buying bunches of lettuce and storing them properly to last.

How to Keep Lettuce Fresh

You'll Need:
+ Cutting board
+ Dish Towel
+ Large tupperware

// Step 1:
Place cutting board in your sink and set water temperature to slightly below room temp.

// Step 2:
Peel back layers of the lettuce, breaking from the core. Peel until you reach the smaller sprigs of lettuce that are more whitefish in color. Discard these pieces (or compost them!)

// Step 3:
Place peeled layers on cutting board and rinse each leaf with cold water, pushing excess dirt - and sometimes pesticides - down the drain.

// Step 4:
Once rinsed, lay lettuce on dish towel and pat dry. Be careful not to apply too much pressure and "bruise" the leaves.

// Step 5: Lay clean leaves in long tupperware container and seal tight.

My lettuce tends to last well into two weeks by doing this. Give it a try and let me know in the comments below - or on my Facebook page - if you had the same success!
